"Every artist wants to begin creating music exactly the way it appears in their head. But first, you always have to do a little people-pleasing to get the crowd to look at you. Then you can expand into the true measure of who you are, musically, and people will respect you enough to take you seriously, even if it's something new and different they've never heard before. The trouble comes when you fuck up your establishment. People-please too much, and you sell out. People-please too little, and nobody even looks your way. In our genre, Datach'i didn't people-please. He didn't establish well. Marilyn Manson people-pleased too much, sold out, and was torn down. You have to find the balance. Be the industrial equivalent of Kurt Cobain."

musician and my mentor

Yesterday, as some may have seen, I submitted the album artwork for my band's new single, Fucked Up Over You from ru5h'd Records.

You may now notice that said artwork no longer exists on Newgrounds.

Why, you ask?
It carried a score of 1.28, because people DIDN'T LIKE THE WAY I TRANSLATED THE NAME OF MY BAND IN THE DESCRIPTION BELOW THE PIECE.
A piece that I put HOURS into, was treated like shit, "Because Deux Ex Machina means 'God from the machine' not 'God in the machine'."

Nobody even commented on the artwork. Are we really so pretentious? Are we really so shallow, so superficial? That hurts.

I'll probably be shot by the gestapo for saying this, but I honestly don't understand how a.) Some of the things in the Art Portal were approved, and b.) Why some pieces are frontpaged and others aren't. I'm not plugging my own art either, and far from it. I just see the things on the front page, and then I see things that are so much better... Like whenever someone does a Leo and Satan piece, or a Tom Fulp piece it automatically gets frontpaged... I just feel bad for the artists that are trying so so hard, and not being recognized...

Meh. I'm not trying to flame with this, I'm just thinking aloud here, people.

The guy in the ad on the side of the homepage looks like a weird, buff, Justin Beiber. I feel it raping my eyes.

Audio portal submissions are going so slow... It's just not a good day.

Check out my new charcoal piece in the Art Portal! Rate and review, I love feedback.

It's frustrating to hear from artists who want to be scouted, then look at their art and realize how NOT serious they are about it all, and then have my very serious, very legal and legit photoshop project deleted from the portal for terms of use violation. It was a freaking rainbow butterfly, come on people.

Arrrrrgh

Working on some new art, should be up in a few days. I'm having a bit of a burst of nude charcoal energy...
